Runescape

OSRS 1 to 99 Herblore Guide

Herblore is a very important aspect of the game that allows you to make potions from various ingredients. These ingredients are gathered from monster drops, quests, different locations, farming, etc. Yes, it’s an expensive and time-consuming skill to level up, but through this guide, we hope your journey will be a lot smoother.

Herblore Quests

Herblore is the only in-game skill that needs to be unlocked through a quest called Druidic Ritual. The base training starts with identifying various herbs and making potions; however, it gets faster with time.

Herblore Essentials

Botanical Pie can help increase your Herblore level by 4 points, allowing you to create higher-tier potions. Another item that would be helpful is the Amulet of Chemistry which makes 4-dose potions rather than 3 when equipped. Both are great ways to save time and money.

Leveling Up

Level 3 to 38

You can start by making Attack Potions through Guam Leaves and Eyes of Newt. It was a decent resell value so you won’t be at any loss. While it seems like it’s a starting potion on the chart, you can get about 60k XP per hour making Attack Potions.

Level 38 to 45+

Prayer potions are always high in demand to train Slayer or generally while questing. Yes, it’s high in value but you’ll be making these potions at a slight loss. The potion is a simple mix of Rannar Weed and Snape Grass, granting about 200k XP per hour.

There are two paths you can take from here. Either make Prayer Potions until level 52 and then move to Super Energy Potions till you reach level 94. Or, make Prayer Potions until 84, and then switch to Extended Antifire Potions till level 94.

Level 94 to 99

Similarly, there are two paths you can choose at level 94. Make Anti-Venom+ Potions to earn some of the lost money back, or simply burn away your Runescape Gold to make the highest available potion on the list.

You can make Anti-Venom+ by using a Torstol on an Anti-Venom. The potion acts as a cure for both poison and venom, which is useful for Zulrah or PVP. You can get about 150k XP per hour through this method.

Alternative Ways

If you don’t have extra gold to burn, you can budget your training and consider using the following approach.

Level 15 to 38+

Making Serum 207 costs about 5GP per XP. You can make it using Tarromin and Ashes. The ability to make Serum 207 unlocks during the Shades of Mort’ton quest. You can get around 100k XP per hour through this method.

Level 52 to 66 or 81+

Similar to Serum 207, making Super Energy Potions costs about the same. They are made with Mort Myre Fungi and Avantoes. Being high in demand, they’re quite easy to sell at the Grand Exchange. You can get about 280k XP per hour through this method.

Level 39+

A good and considerable AFK method would be stacking an inventory full of Herbs and letting your player automatically make Tars. You can always do other important things while also leveling up. You can get around 100k XP per hour through this method.

Level 42 to 52

Super Attack Potions are quite easy to sell at the Grand Exchange. It’s a cost-efficient way for you to train our Herblore until Super Energy Potions are unlocked. You’ll need Irit Potions (UNF) and Eyes of Newt to make Super Attack Potions. You can get about 250k XP per hour through this method.

Level 66+

Making Super Defense Potions cost about 7 GP per XP. It’s also the fastest way to blast through the mid annoying levels. You’ll lose about 1,000 OSRS Gold per potion but get about 370k XP per hour.

Level 80 to 99

With the Theatre of Blood update, you can now use Vials of Blood to make Bastion Potions. You’ll need to combine these Vials with Cadantine and Wines of Zamorak to get the end result. You will be at a loss of 1,100 OSRS GP per potion but get about 380k XP per hour.

Level 81 to 99

Offering the fastest experience in the game for Herblore, Saradomin Potions come at a higher loss. The reason is that its ingredients (Herbs + Birds’ Nests) are expensive with a low resell value. While you may lose about 2,500 gold per potion, the experience gained per hour is around 450K.

Level 90 to 99

Super Combat Potions are high in demand for PVM as well as PVP. It is made with the combination of Super Attack, Strength, Defense Potions, and a pinch of Torstol. You’ll only lose about 150 RS Gold per potion but get over 300k XP per hour.
